Marko takes a swipe at Jason Coleman

Marko is showing that he is not happy about being punted from So You Think You Can Dance last week, by accusing Jason Coleman of playing favourites in an article in the Herald Sun.

Marko said Coleman played favourites. "The main complaint as dancers (in the show) is his inconsistency in his judgments,"

"I do think he (Coleman) knows what he's talking about, but if he likes you he will talk you up."

Also a unnamed source criticised Jason Coleman.

A choreographer, who also declined to be named, said Coleman's on-air judgments were driven by his business interests with Kelly Aykers. The pair is involved in the launch of a multi-million-dollar Melbourne dance studio, Ministry Of Dance. Coleman denied there was a conflict of interest: "Kelly Aykers has delivered three great routines. I would never put myself in a position where I'd compliment a person's work because they are my friend," he said.

So the knives are out in the small knit dance world in Australia.

And Marko the reason you were dumped was your lack of personality.

I strongly disagree, I think Marko had a vivacious and wonderful personality. And one certainly more tangible than someone like Graeme or Bland Anthony and Boring Laura. To me, his remarks make sense - Jason does have inconsistancies in his judging. For eg, one week basing elimination decisions on solos, another basing them not on solos, etc.

I think you're reading his comments as vindictive when they're really not...

Thanks anon - it is always great to have another point of view.

Obviously you are not the only person who thinks Anthony is bland, as I was surprised that in my poll (ok so it is not as scientific as newspoll) that Anthony and Marko are neck and neck regarding who people think should be eliminated. Clearly he is not as popular as media perceive him to be.

I think Marko had the misfortune of:
a)Getting no TV time on top 100 week or the auditions,
b)Being teamed with Stephanie.

However in reality TV and really this is what this dancing competition is he never fit into a persona or character.

For example, Rhys had taken the fun gay guy role, Anthony is the butch athletes brother, Henry the straight good looking guy, Jack is the kid brother.

What was Marko's persona? I think he was probably one of the technically better dancers, but to me he never grabbed my attention when the camera was on him.

Having said that I do think others should have been eliminated before him but they were not in the bottom three last week.

Haha, no, your poll may not be a news poll, but polls are fun and you get a fair amount of people contributing in them!

All the backstage things, such as the behind the scenes videos, and the video blogs, and such, really presented Marko's personality, to me. I agree with the misfortunes you listed, but I'd also include that he was, I think, the only dancer in the top twenty to NOT get his own style. I think it's understandable that he appears to not have a personality because of all these things - I doubt many people even knew what style he specialised in until he did his solo. It's so unfortunate...

I will go crazy if Laura isn't elimiated this week. She's just completely out of her league.

RR, would it be possible for you to comment on the package prior to the dances? I feel as if I miss so much by not seeing them (or reading about them) first. FOr example, we don't know that Marko was nasty to Stephanie (well, we in the states don't).

I guess I can't comment on Laura, b/c she hasn't stuck out for me. Stephanie I agreed with. I think Vanessa is getting better.

I still do not know why SYTYCDA won't release all of the vids!!!

From the moment I saw that Marko was in the Top 20 I was blah to him. He is a great dancer and he was stuck with a not that great partner but he is just not an attractive guy both aesthetically and personality-wise. To be Australia's fave dancer you probably need to be both.

And don't forget that all three judges decide on who gets out, not just Jason and I think their judging is justified because if the three dancers were consistent throughout the competition then one screwed up their solo then you have no choice but to vote that one off.

For all American SYTYCD watchers, I reckon Graeme is like Neil. How he was kinda ignored in the beginning and then people started taking notice of him and his funny personality later on in the show. Dunno if it really is but hey, I am biased towards him :]

KC: Agree with your remarks about Marko. However I am not sure Graeme is the new Neil, but then again I did not take any notice of Neil until halfway through the season, and then I thought he was fabulous.

However I am sure I will change my favourites at least 3 times before the end of the show. I thought Graeme was really strong dance wise last night.

Soobee: I will try to write more about the package prior to the routine, but sometimes not a lot is happening except botched lifts.
