Being a vigilant Top Chef, and Hells Kitchen viewer the thing that amazes me is how many of the chefs smoke. It has got to be around 80% of the cast. Oh and they like a bit of a drink as well.
No wonder Gordan Ramsey yells at them, as smoking kills the taste buds it is a wonder they can taste the food they send out.

Reality Tidbits
The Bitching From Make Me A Supermodel Continues - Keep It Coming Girls.
Sheridan Seekamp who was eliminated last night Make Me Supermodel decided to give a last swipe at Kassie.
She said "Luke had a crack but I wasn't interested.... I thinks that's why Kassie hated me so much."
Does she mean Kassie hated her because she rejected Luke, Kassie's own paramour or that Kassie hated her because Luke had shown interest in her?
Am I going to spend anymore time thinking about it? NO.
Is Ruby Rose the female equivalent of Shane Warne?
Actually I don't think so. But the mainstream media thinks that if she is hanging out with a girl she must be sleeping with the - because really every girl now has been brainwashed by that Kate Perry song.
The latest rumour involves third place getter from Australia's Next Top Model Samantha Downie when they turn up to the Rolling Stone Party together. Of course Sam has form due to her kiss with Leiden Kronemberger on the show.
Anyway it is all bollocks Sam has a boyfriend in Melbourne, though for how much longer is unclear as an agent from Milan has shown interest in the photogenic Samantha.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia host Natalie Bassingthwaite will be juggling her SYTYCD duties with promoting her new solo album.
Apparently going solo was harder then she thought it would be.
Auditions for the show are currently occurring around Australia. Details here. Apparently Bonnie Lythgoe will be on the judging panel again this year. Is this part of her divorce settlement?

Considering this years season of American Idol was only shown on Fox 8, Michael Johns appears to have plenty of fans here.

Tips To Ensure Success Once You Are On A Reality TV Show.
So you've filled out the applications, gone through the interviews and psych tests and you are now a contestant on your favourite reality TV show. What can you do to ensure you stay on as long as possible.
Slate has a great article titled "How not to be the first person kicked off a reality TV show." (Beware there is a very small Project Runway spoiler in it).
Basically it comes down to charisma, personality or frictions between contestants. If you are dull and try to hide in a corner you will not survive. Also it it reiterates the control the producers have on certain programs. This might explain how Nekisa is still in Shear Genius Season 2 when she should have been eliminated weeks ago. She is great TV with her self delusion she is a great hair dresser and the fighting between her and Charlie.

Season 1 Australian Idol contestant Cosima De Vito is being sued by former managers for lost earnings. Which begs the question how much money can be made from a hit Chisel cover and singing at the Mardi Gras?
Don't managers usually earn about 20% of their clients income? Or are they just doing a US style litigation where you slip on a chip in MacDonald's, stub a toe and then sue for $50 million?

So what do you get when good looking girls move in with hot most who have never lived out of home before? Yes you guessed it adolescent exploration of each other.
Apparently there are romances springing up everywhere. This could of course be a beat up by Channel 7 to get us to tune in tonight to watch the show.
For those who care the hook ups are Billy and Courtney, and Luke with Kassandra and Sheridan. At different times I should add.

Matt Moran returns in this milder version of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.
This surprisingly entertaining show that deserved higher ratings will be back on Channel 9. The premise of the show is two struggling restaurants go head to head to see who can show the most improvement in 48 hours after they have taken advice from Matt Moran.
There will be a few tweakings to the format, as the secret critic will have to be changed as he was revealed on the last series. A pity as he was great value.
Also Katriona Rowntree as the superfluous host has been dumped. This has the added benefit of not having to discuss with my partner whether a certain part of her anatomy is real. The only other reality TV star that elicits this discussion is Jodhi Meares. For the record our view is Katriona's fake, Jodhi's real.
Also the US are poaching the concept and rumour has it Marco Pierre White will be fronting it. Now this will be interesting as he is a former friend of Gordon Ramsey's. Apparently this friendship ended when Gordon turned up with TV cameras to Marco's wedding.
The show will commence on Tuesday 14 October at 7.30pm.

Project Runway Season 5 - Episode 1
So your an up and coming designer and you finally made it onto Project Runway sipping champagne with Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, but before you can get to excited you are taken to a grocery store and told to make an outfit out of products from the store.
It is a baptism of fire. The only up side of the challenge was they did give them $75 to spend.

Quick comments:
- Sheldon should have been eliminated with his "playboy gone grunge" except producers will keep him on for a few more weeks because he is a personality.
- I thought Jeffrey was unlucky to go as Stella's garbage bag outfit was the worst it showed complete lack of effort.
- On the other hand the winning outfit by Kellie done with vacuum cleaner bags was sensational;
- And I thought the judges over gushed on the plastic cup dress, yes clever but not great to look at and unwearable, whereas there was a dress made from paper towels which looked great also.
Survivor Fans V Favourite Episode One
I cannot believe how disappointed I am that Johnny Fairplay left in the first episode of Survivor. In the first 40 minutes of the new season he was the most entertaining person of the cast flitting between the two groups of alliances having a foot in both camps.
At first when he was talking about having the pregnant fiancee I thought he was being manipulative, however I did think it was too early in the game for that sort of manoeuvre.
Anyway I did some googling and yes the story was legit. The mother of his child is another reality TV star Michelle Deighton 21 from America's Next Top Model Cycle 4. In the US do they have some sort of dating agency where reality TV stars hook up?

Leigh Buchanan Updates Reality Raver On Life After Project Runway Australia
With Project Runway Season Five starting tonight it is perfect time to hear what Leigh Buchanan the runner up from Project Runway Australia is up to.
Leigh was the perfect reality TV contestant with a great personality mixed with real design talent who kept us amused each week with his one liners and outstanding outfits.

Leigh kindly agreed to an interview where he revealed we will be hearing more from him, and what Lui's final collection was like.
Unfortunately for Leigh there was no $10,000 fan favourite prize. But hopefully next year Arena or one of the sponsors might stump up the cash for the series to have a fan favourite as they do in the US version.
Reality Raver:What has happened to you since appearing on Project Runway Australia? Have any business or career opportunities eventuated? What would you like to do?
Leigh Buchanan: I've had squillions of ladies asking me for wedding dresses and formal dresses and ball gowns, and also lots of interest in my menswear, a few guys who'd like to get married in brocade kilts and my brocade skinnies. Also trialling a Sunday night gig on Nova in Brisbane with Meshel Laurie called "Camp as Tits!" and, just for now, back at Easton Pearson behind a sewing machine...
RR: Do you think the way you were portrayed on the show was an accurate reflection on who you are?
LB: I think it really has shown one side of me VERY well. It really is the fun and crazy Leigh my friends and family know all too well. I was just hoping that people would see my creativity rather than just my comedy. Being a fully fledged Gemini, I have many faces, and Project Runway didn't really show the downside to my hi-jinks, my lack of confidence and the constant stress that puts me under, but I loved the show, I cringed occasionally, but laughed so much it hurt!!!
RR: How many weeks was Project Runway filmed over as it seem as the show progressed you all looked noticeably tired.
LB: We were all EXHAUSTED!!! It was far more grueling than any of us expected. It was filmed in 5 weeks each challenge usually taking 3 days. One day to find out the challenge, which sometimes took us all over Melbourne, finding out the task, changing locations, getting the fabric etc. One day (two if we were lucky) to make the garment and then a whole day to film the Runway (which under the stress and strong lighting, always gave me a killer headache).
We were also lucky, for the first couple of weeks, to get a day off in between, but that was in lockdown, and often included lots of interviews.
RR: To me you were the perfect reality TV contestant - producing great work plus lots of personality. Were you surprised at the amount of screen time you were given?
LB: A few of us did seem to get a lot of airtime, but it was television, and the contestants that used that did well...
It was hard to have cameras pointed us at all times, but I found by giving them what they wanted, I got more time to do what had to get done.
RR: How long did it take to adjust to the cameras?
LB: It did take few days, it was hard and frustrating having to stop all the time and shoot everything three times from different angles and still try to look interested or surprised, which led Brent and I to do lots of over-acting, but by the end we were pros!
RR: You mentioned in the show that sometimes you did not feel great about yourself. Has being on the show helped with your self esteem/self confidence?
LB: It has made me more confident publicly, but I'm still human with the same issues I've always had... but working on it!
RR: I am from Sydney so I know a few guys that want to know the answer to this - are you seeing anyone?
LB: Hahaha! I'm constantly single, my problem seems to be that I'm too romantic... not into randoms... want a fiance (I think they're a better idea than husbands).
RR: What was your favourite outfit you designed on the show?
LB: Each piece of my collection - they're my babies and each have VERY special significances, and the wedding dress of course!!!
RR:I understand at the final there were five collections shown to ensure the top 3 was kept a secret. One was Lui’s what was his collection like?
LB: OMG Lui would have won with his collection if he'd made it to the final 3. It was half mens/half womenswear, lots of knits and leather with interesting pieces that could be worn different ways... genius!
RR: Any tips for any would be next season’s contestants?
LB: Be calm, expect it to be more full on than you could ever expect, but enjoy the ride. It is lots of fun too!!! Oh and be able to sew!!!
RR: If you could go on any other reality TV show, other then Project Runway, what would it be?
LB: Well... I auditioned for Australian Idol twice hahaha! So maybe It Takes Two???
RR: You must be miffed that there was no fan favourite in the Australian version of the show as you would have had a great chance of winning it.
LB: Oh so totally miffed!! I am actually rather poor, and the $10,000 they get on the US version would have been very handy indeed because I REALLY NEED A HOLIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
