By the end of this episode Rami and Chris were going to feel either elated or disappointed as they find out which one of them will get to show at New York Fashion Week.
The challenge was to create 12 looks for fashion week. The Budget was $8000 and five months to put it together. And it was not compulsory to shop at Mood fabrics.
After 3 and half months Tim Gunn went around to look at the contestants designs and give his advice.
First stop was Christian Siriano studio is a typical tiny New York apartment - the bed has to be put away each day.
Some of his outfits bemused Tim and he said "It's a lot of look."
Jillian Lewis was next she had left her job at Ralph Lauren to concentrate getting her show together. Tim said the palette was a bit colourless, but the designs had her usual intricacies. Her style is phenomenal and wearable. She said she had been inspired by her trip to Met and the military style she saw there, she also said she had been looking at armour.
She is incredibly focused and confident of her designing ability.
Tim then went to meet her family in Long Island.
Then it is was Rami's turn to see Tim Gunn in LA. His collection was based on Joan of Arc. "I want you to pull it back a bit." said Tim.
Then it was back to New York to visit Chris March. He was using human hair on one of his jacket "I think my gag reflex is kicking in."
I loved the monkey house analogy from Tim Gunn. The punch line being Chris had been in the
monkey house far too long.
Chris took Tim to his friends house - it is a "roccoco nightmare", and it was Martha Stewart would have had a heart attack if she had seen all that wood and mirrors in one room. Tim accurately described it as Versailles.
Rami and Chris were have a clothing face off, they had to show their three strongest looks.
Christian was a bit perturbed about having to brush Chris's clothes. It was all abit ghoulish.
The judges were Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia.
Michael said "It is a little creepy to wear human hair, but you thought outside of the box."
and "the girls look over designed." Heidi said "Very creative." Heidi did look a bit like Oliva Newton John tonight. At least she wasn't wearing a head band.
Michael also added "Still costumes".
Rami's clothes got mixed reviews, they loved one of his dresses but the other two outfits attracted some criticism.
However it was unsurprising that Rami was the one selected for New York fashion week. So disappointed for Chris. Next week the finale at Bryant Park with special guest Victoria Beckham.

Project Runway - Tim Gunn Reveals That Victorya Was a Scrag
Watching tonight's Project Runway 'Reunion Special' and I could not help notice that Victorya just looked like she did not want to be there.
Luckily I found an interview that outlined that this moodiness was not a one off.
Below is the excerpt from the interview (as full transcript reveals who won):
Maureen Ryan: I don’t really understand why she was so upset. Can you explain that to me?
Tim Gunn: “She was sourpuss, a crabby apple as I keep saying, throughout almost all the show, other than Days 1, 2 and 3. She became this sour pill. Rich Bye, one of the executive producers, and I had two off camera interventions with her. I said to her, ‘You know what makes me beside myself is the fact that there are thousands of designers who would love to be in your place. What’s the matter with you?’
“She said, ‘I never dreamed the experience of being on the show would be like this.’ We said, ‘What do you mean?’ ‘I never dreamed we’d only have a day for challenges, that we wouldn’t have any breaks.’ ‘But you said you saw the show.’ She said, ‘I assumed it was cheated.’ I said, ‘Then you only have your own delusions to blame.’ She was really angry and bitter.
“On one occasion – they edited this out, I knew they would – we were at Mood [Fabrics], and I’m handing out money. They each have $250 dollars. She collects the envelopes from all the designers and hands them back to me. She said, ‘I want you to count it.’ I just stared at her. ‘You want me to do what?’
“She wanted me to count the money in each envelope. I looked to the producer on site with us, and I said, ‘I’m not doing this, am I?’ and he said, ‘The rules say that if a designer asks for the money to be counted, we have to count it.’ I said, ‘Fine,’ and asked why she wanted it counted. And she had pulled out this sheaf of papers – she had the rules with her – and she said, ‘I don’t believe that we all have the same amount of money.’ Why would we do that? If someone didn’t have the right amount, wouldn’t they come to me? So I counted the money.
“But that’s what it was like dealing with her. She actually said about Jack’s departure that we had engineered him leaving because he wasn’t a pretty face anymore. I just said to her, ‘I fundamentally don’t understand why you can’t understand that he is seriously ill. Furthermore, it’s a MRSA [infection]. We are all at risk.’ But she said we were forcing him out and that shouldn’t happen and we should have a hearing or something.”
MR: That explains what the hostility was about in the reunion special. I think I get that now.

Reality Tidbits
For Rami fans of Project Runway - he designed a dress out of money for Heidi Klum.
Blogging Project Runway has a great photo of Heidi Klum, Project Runway host, dressed in a dress by Rami Kashou. It looks amazing even without his signature draping.
Kyle Sandilands Doesn't Give A Rats That People Prefer Mike Goldman As Host of Big Brother Then Him - More concerned about having to cut down on Coca-Cola.
Kyle Sandiland was off sick for two weeks while he battled pneumonia, whist Big Brother battled falling ratings said he was unconcerned that Mike Goldman was better received as host then Kyle and Jackie have been.
Kyle's constant sarcasm and rudeness is not captivating the viewing audiences.
The 37 year old has been told he needs to 10kgs, and cut down his caffiene consumption - all of which he does not think he will do at this point of time.

Big Brother Now Seen As A Career Move.
Whatever happened to just appearing on Big Brother and once your time was over you just went back to your normal life. Now most contestants seem to think that once they have appeared on TV that their further fame must continue. Now most of the girls just do a mens magazine thread. However last weeks evictee Renaee said she would like to host an extreme sports show.
I liked Renaee (what I have seen in the three BB episodes I have watched.) But seriously does she really think she has the personality, charisma or intelligence to host a tv show! Sadly I think she will back to Dubbo sooner then she thinks. If she wants a career change maybe she should go to Uni. Article here.
I think it is doubtful if there is another Big Brother next year that he and Jackie will be hosting.
Clearly Jackie's and Kyles publicity machine has been everywhere this week, every paper I have opened there has been an interviews of one or the other. Personally I think Kyle has become far too over exposed. One of Kyle's interviews from the Sunday papers if interested is here.

Project Runway - Episode 10 - Season 4
Final Five the pressure was on as the much wanted prize to show at Bryant Park was oh so close. However tonight two contestants were to be eliminated.
Tonight’s challenge was to involve a last field trip and it ended up at the iconic Metropolitan Museum, and lucky them they got to go without any other people there. That itself would be amazing not tripping over other tourists and being blinded by their flashing cameras.
The challenge was to choose a work of art which will serve as an inspiration for their outfit they design. However the were limited to three wings the Greek and Roman, European wing, and the Temple of Dendur.
Rami was predictably excited with the Roman and Greece wing - fit in with his draping style. Thought he was risking being a bit samey.
The challenge details were - Budget $300, 1 hour to sketch, 30 mins at Mood.
Christian was inspired by Spanish aristocrat from the European wing. Sweet P was inspired by a Peacock and , Rami inspired by Aphrodite.
Jillian was inspired by Scene from the Story of the Argonauts, and Chris’s was a Portrait of a 18th century aristocrat.
Christian was getting on peoples nerves as he rubs in his fast sewing in other contestant’s face. After all these episodes I am unsure if I like Christian, however for a 21 year old I admire is talent and confidence.
Jillian particularly bites at Christian’s snide remarks as she is soooo slow. It is amazing she has finished every challenge.
Sweet P was not helped that her model was a no show at the fitting apparently because of a family emergency. She ended up turning up 2 hours before the end of the second day.
Chris was so relaxed he went for a nap, as he thought he was finished. Tim Gunn was not so sure and went and woke him up and told him he cannot be finished. “Is it wow enough?” Tim also told him he was worried about it. However Chris remain relaxed.
The final runway show had arrived and Heidi had even had a makeover for the occasion a haircut which was shaggy and cut with a fringe.
Judges were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and guest judge was Roberto Cavalli.
Christian - “I tried to create as many pieces in it.” Rob C “Loved it” as did all the judges.
Chris - Robert C said “Most artistic of you” He had not seen the previous design that it had been so similar to. However the same could not be said for Michael Kors. Who said “ A little reminiscent of a previous design”. Nina Garcia also was critical of the shoulder saying it was very similar.
Jillian was praised and they thought it was great. And it was fabulous the black tailored jacket lined with gold with a sassy little gold dress underneath.
Sweet P was always going to be in trouble with Michael Kors liking it but not overwhelmed.
Robert Cavello said “Should have done something more”.
Rami was told by Robert Cavello that it was “Too normal”, Michael K “Expected more from you. Predictable”. Nina Garcia said “I want to see you out of this box.” she meant the draping box.
Christian was the winner of the challenge, with Jillian also taking a spot at Bryant Park.
Sweet P was eliminated.
The judges then told Chris and Rami they were both in as the judges had been deadlocked. However there was a catch. Only one was going to make it to fashion week. Project Runway - Episode 9 - Season 4
Tonight’s episode was always going to be wild with the unconventional nature of the challenge, but hey that is what makes Project Runway such fun.
Four boys, and two girls left. As Jillian said “I hope a girl gets to make it to fashion week.”
Christian was still bitching about Ricky winning - “There were ruffles not even seams.” Have to agree Ricky is lightweight and I am surprised he made it this far.
It was field trip time, of course this made for much speculation.
Chris with an evil glint in his eye said “Maybe they would go as far as drag queens”. Oh so close especially as there were all fake boobs in the challenge.
They didn’t go far for the field trip just down a lift, where they stood outside the door and heard some loud moaning.
Christian thought they were sex moans - what type of sex does he have? At this point I felt my age.
The doors opened to reveal female wrestlers in a wrestling ring. Tim Gunn barely retained his dignity getting into the ring.
The Challenge was to create an outfit for the diva’s to wear in the ring.
They even went to a different material shop from Mood House - Spandex House.
This challenge they had 5 hours on day one and all day on day two.
Even though the challenge was difficult, and outside most of the designer’s comfort zone, but everyone was having a laugh. Chris March was in his element.
Sweet P, however was not, her client thought the white fabric was not wild enough. So she started adding feathers, rhinestones to make it as tacky as possible.
At this point the designer’s started to discuss what their wrestlers name would be. Sweet P’s was going to be spread eagle. However this was going to be the only thing to make her smile that day as Tim Gunn told her again to fix the outfit.
She was worried this challenge was going to leave her on the canvas.
Judges were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, Richie Rich and Trevor Rains from Heatherette.
Ricky’s looked like a tacky swimsuit, with a poorly made gold lame dress over the top.
Rami whose outfit looked good on the dummy looked bad on the peroxide blond. There was just to much hot pink. The designers should have also had to write an essay on the differences between a wrestler and strippers outfit.
Jillian’s sporty blue sexy number got the thumbs up from the judges. Michael Kors said “Played off something classic but gave it some sizzle.”
Rami was going for the girl next door look. Michael Kor said “I don’t get any Americana out of this”
Christian’s leather and lace outfit got glowing reviews. It was pretty good - for a 21 year old this kid has a lot of talent.
Sweet P’s outfit was told it looked a bit unfinished. Michael Kors said “You got to go for the drama.”
Chris in a matching leopard outfit rocked. Michael Kor in an awed tone said “It looks expensive.”
Quite an accomplishment for a wrestling outfit.
Ricky got a pasting, Nina Garcia “I like it as a bathing suit. The gold dress is not helping the cause.” Ricky gets tears welling up in his eyes.
Chris won the challenge. “I won the tackiest challenge, which I found very funny.” Christian looked pissed he did not win it.
Bottom two were Ricky and Sweet P.
Ricky was eliminated. Yeah about time he should have gone weeks ago most of his designs were uninspiring, and his personality was bland a big negative in reality tv land.

Project Runway - Episode 8 - Season 4
Why does Project Runway work so well? Is it the witty, bright and talented contestants, that you laugh with and hope they do well? Is it the interesting challenges, the debonair and sardonic Tim Gunn? Or the judges who are all able to give out good one liners.
Project Runway is like a great cocktail, all the right ingredients mixed right for a good hit.
This weeks challenge was related to the model’s hair. They had to create an avant garde look that goes with an outlandish hair style. The designer is able to be as creative as you want. Chris, the costume designer was very excited as this was way up his alley.
Tim Gunn comes in to add the details to the challenge. The look does not have to be practical or wearable, however they would have to work in teams of two which were determined by a draw.
The teams were:
Kit and Ricky
Sweet P and Rami
Chris and Christian
Victorya and Gillian
Budget $300, and they must pick which model’s hair is going to inspire the collection. A team leader must be chosen and they had two days to complete.
Christian was team leader, as was Kit, Rami and Jillian. There was not a lot of enthusiasm to be the team leaders know that previously their neck’s have been on the line.
Rami is frustrated with Sweet P making the pants, and tensions were starting to arise, which persist throughout the two days. Rami does not manage well and just got pissy and hence upsetting Sweet P, as well as making her tense.
Tim Gunn came in a sprung a surprise - There will be another look walking down the runway tomorrow. Each person must now must have a ready to wear look that is inspired by the avant garde. $50 to spend and they get another extra 1 hour.
Rami and Sweet P were really starting to fracture, resulting in tears and “my arse in on the line,” “No my arse is on the line.” Tit for tat.
Jillian and Victorya were again having time problems and Jillian realised that as Victorya had immunity from last week, that if they were at the bottom she was automatically eliminated. Jillian and Victorya had not even started the second dress by the end of the second day.
Tim Gunn comes in with 6 hours to go - Nathaniel Hawkins the head of the Tresemme salon and announced the winning team looks and models will be featured in a Tresemme ad for Elle magazine.
Kit and Ricky’s dress looked like Little Bo Pee, and the little dress they did as their ready to wear look was like a something you would see in a downmarket chain store.
The judges were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, Alberta Ferretti, and the indomitable Heidi Klum.
Rami and Sweet P’s avant guard looked mis matched with a Grecian looking dress over tailored pants in completely different colours.
It was no surprise Rami and Sweet P, and Ricky and Kit had the lowest scores.
Christian and Chris, and Jillian and Victorya had the highest scores.
Christian and Chris dress was this over the top ruffled dress, and the ready to wear look was much more conservative. Personally I thought it was too different.
The judges were blown away by the dress but mixed about the ready to wear.
MK said “Beautifully crafted,” but the ready to wear was “shirt great but skirt a bit of a throwaway.”
All the designer’s loved Jillian and Victorya’s. It was jodhpur type pants, a intricate shirt, and an amazing black coat with tartan lining. Also considering Jillian had quickly sewn the ready to wear dress which was black with bits of tartan, I thought both looks were sensational.
Michael Kors said he could see women really wanting to wear these designs, and I concur.
Rami and Sweet P were always going to be in trouble.

Kit and Ricky designs quite rightly got hammered it was something out of a fairy tale. Neither was wearable nor well made.

All the judges agreed “Everything looked amateur.”
Christian and Chris team won and Christian gained immunity as he was team leader.
It was down to Rami and Kit, and Kit was eliminated.
Why is Ricky like the cat with nine lives and still around? Everything he has done has been crap. He does not even have a personality to engage you. Better designers have been eliminated but him and tears and cheap badly made clothes continue to limp through week after week.
Project Runway is like a great cocktail, all the right ingredients mixed right for a good hit.
This weeks challenge was related to the model’s hair. They had to create an avant garde look that goes with an outlandish hair style. The designer is able to be as creative as you want. Chris, the costume designer was very excited as this was way up his alley.
Tim Gunn comes in to add the details to the challenge. The look does not have to be practical or wearable, however they would have to work in teams of two which were determined by a draw.
The teams were:
Kit and Ricky
Sweet P and Rami
Chris and Christian
Victorya and Gillian
Budget $300, and they must pick which model’s hair is going to inspire the collection. A team leader must be chosen and they had two days to complete.
Christian was team leader, as was Kit, Rami and Jillian. There was not a lot of enthusiasm to be the team leaders know that previously their neck’s have been on the line.
Rami is frustrated with Sweet P making the pants, and tensions were starting to arise, which persist throughout the two days. Rami does not manage well and just got pissy and hence upsetting Sweet P, as well as making her tense.
Tim Gunn came in a sprung a surprise - There will be another look walking down the runway tomorrow. Each person must now must have a ready to wear look that is inspired by the avant garde. $50 to spend and they get another extra 1 hour.
Rami and Sweet P were really starting to fracture, resulting in tears and “my arse in on the line,” “No my arse is on the line.” Tit for tat.
Jillian and Victorya were again having time problems and Jillian realised that as Victorya had immunity from last week, that if they were at the bottom she was automatically eliminated. Jillian and Victorya had not even started the second dress by the end of the second day.
Tim Gunn comes in with 6 hours to go - Nathaniel Hawkins the head of the Tresemme salon and announced the winning team looks and models will be featured in a Tresemme ad for Elle magazine.
Kit and Ricky’s dress looked like Little Bo Pee, and the little dress they did as their ready to wear look was like a something you would see in a downmarket chain store.
The judges were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, Alberta Ferretti, and the indomitable Heidi Klum.
Rami and Sweet P’s avant guard looked mis matched with a Grecian looking dress over tailored pants in completely different colours.
It was no surprise Rami and Sweet P, and Ricky and Kit had the lowest scores.
Christian and Chris, and Jillian and Victorya had the highest scores.
Christian and Chris dress was this over the top ruffled dress, and the ready to wear look was much more conservative. Personally I thought it was too different.
The judges were blown away by the dress but mixed about the ready to wear.
MK said “Beautifully crafted,” but the ready to wear was “shirt great but skirt a bit of a throwaway.”
All the designer’s loved Jillian and Victorya’s. It was jodhpur type pants, a intricate shirt, and an amazing black coat with tartan lining. Also considering Jillian had quickly sewn the ready to wear dress which was black with bits of tartan, I thought both looks were sensational.
Michael Kors said he could see women really wanting to wear these designs, and I concur.
Rami and Sweet P were always going to be in trouble.

Project Runway - Episode 7 - Season 4
Tonight’s challenge is making an outfit for a woman’s most important day and cope with precocious teenagers.
They had to make prom dresses for 17 year old school girls with assorted body shapes.
Christian Siriano thinks the prom is “horrible tacky and gross.”
In a reverse situation from the usual the student’s got to decide who they wanted to work with.
Tim Gunn gave them the directions for the challenge. They had to take in the students views as well as the designers showing of their style.
They will have until midnight and the next day to finish it. Then had 30 minutes with the students.
Highlight so far were photo’s of designers at their prom.
Then we had the standard Ricki crying scene about how his mum made all his sisters prom dresses, and how great it would be to win Project Runway.
Ricki did come up with one of the lines of the night with “When I had a girlfriend I made her a prom dress, that should have been a clue right there.”
Christian was having an episode because of the tackiness of his dress. His student had studied design for a couple of years and had very strong opinions in a white trash way which was surprising considering she was black.
He made a change from the original design.
Victorya hated hers as it looked like something an elderly Italian divorcee would wear, so changed it and the student liked it.
Day two the models are sent for a fitting. This time they brought their mums. Kevin student’s mum was not keen on his dress.
Christian’s student does not like the dress, but is also taking credit for designing it. Rami thought Christian should have taken a bit more control.
He was giving up and thought he would be going. Tim Gunn gave him a pep talk saying he had the wrong attitude.
Rami decided to be adventurous as he had immunity. Tim Gunn was concerned the green dress was too old for the girl.
Kevin did not hem the dress, Chris was trying to warn him that it was not a great idea as it will look unfinished.
It was time for the fashion show with the usual judges Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and the special guest judge Gilles Mendel.
Sweet P described it as Hollywood glamour. Giles said it was a pretty dress. Nina thought it was a bit sophisticated for a 17 year old.
Kevin dress got criticised. Nina said she did not like the red. Michael said the dress was matronly, and he was distracted by the hemming. Heidi thought the dress looked cheap, as inexpensive not tarty.
Victorya dress was received well. Michael said “I think it is chic and young at the same time.” Nina loved the choice of colour. Young, modern and appropriate.”
Christian dress got mixed reveiws. Christian blamed his student for the over the topness of his dress. He said she wanted ruffles, lace and rhinestones. Nina Garcia said she did not like the blame game, and that he should have managed that.
Ricki got hammered. Heidi said “Pretty but boring”
Rami was criticised Heidi said it was too sophisticated. All the judges thought it was adult
fashion.
Victorya won the challenge so will have immunity for next week.
Ricki was safe for another week. Why????? Each week his clothes have been unmemorable and his personality is bland.

Project Runway - Episode 6 - Season 4
Tim Gunn is my new favourite reality TV star, is laconic sense of humour just makes me smile.
Though I don’t know if I would like him landing on my doorstep pre-dawn as he was on the designers to take them on a field trip for this weeks challenge.
They ended up in Times Square the Hershey’s store “The Sweeetest place in New York”
The challenge was to use items from Hershey’s to create the look of their choice. There was no budget and they had 5 minutes to grab what they could get their hands on, and then 13 hours to complete the designs.
Christian only going to use the inside of Reeses Peanut Buttercups, which at first I thought that was the brown peanut butter bit inside the chocolate, however it was the wrappers they came in.
Jillian was making a bold move by using twizzlers (red looking liquorice) for her outfit.
Chris had the complete opposite strategy as he said “I have a lot of experience in knowing not to use food to make things with, whenever possible.”
Just before they started Tim reminded them it had to be wearable.
Elisa’s dress was an interpretation of Gretel, Ricky thought it was more Barney Rubble.
Elisa told us about the accident she had in London just as she was going to launch a t- shirt label. She got hit by a Porsche and was in coma for 5 days and a few months to recover, hence that great career opportunity was lost.
Christian finished his first, he does not appear very popular with the other cast mates, Kevin was particularly scathing.
As the night wore on the choc buzz was wearing off and the room became serious and stressed.
Jillian was having time issues, not helped just prior to her the finish time her twizzles were falling off the skirt.
Sweet P was also fighting the time as she had had a brain explosion and after completing one dress, started on another.
It was time for the show.
The judges are Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, and Heidi Klum.
There were some great designs. Ricky’s was a lot of fun in a bubble skirt way, and it was the first episode he did not break down in tears that in itself is a minor miracle.
Sweet Pea’s model looks anorexic. There were bones everywhere.
I thought Jillian’s looked quite fun in the end.
The six designers told to stay on the catwalk were Elisa, Chris, Rami, Jillian, Sweet P and Victorya.
I think the judges got it right this week.
Rami creation was made mainly out of paper and it was fun as well as clever.
Zac liked it “Complicated construction overall it worked.”
Michael said “ It could have turned out silly looking, it’s made really well,..its great.”
Elisa goal was to make a beautiful, amazing dress.
Michael was not impressed it “looks like a brown velvet dress with a silver shower cap on her arm.”
Zac wasn‘t feeling it either “It didn’t work for me.”
Jillian twizzle bodice and skirt ended up turning out real well, not sure how long it would last.
Zac said “I like your look a lot“.
Nina said “Sexy and playful”
Michael said “Deliciously chic.”
Victorya’s dress looked a bit of mess with all the ruffles.
Michael said “Doesn’t look wearable”
Victorya does not take criticism well and started talking back.
Chris was congratulated that he did not do something over the top which is his want.
Michael “Made well, nice and understated, smart move.”
Sweet P’s did not please anyone and it was a bit bland.
Heidi said “A little bit on the boring side.”Michael said “No sense of smile and boring.
Winner is Rami and deservedly so. It was a fun and funky dress and beautifully made.
The bottom two were Elissa, and Sweet P.
Heidi summed it up saying “Elisa we were disappointed we expected you to create something playful and creative, instead we got a sad brown dress.”
“Sweet P it is clear you threw a look together at last minute.”
Elissa was eliminated, however she kept a positive attitude the experience and the positive effect it has had on her and her designing.
Next week prom dresses.

Project Runway - Episode 5 - Season 4
Why does Heidi Klum stand with her legs cross? If she was on Next Top Model you could imagine Tyra chastising her, before eliminating her for looking like she needed to go to the toilet.
The episode opened with Sweet P upset that Chris was gone “It will bring a void in the house” I agree.
The Challenge:
New models for the challenge. These were woman who had all lost a significant amount of weight. They were wearing clothes that no longer fitted and the designers had to create a new look with their favourite old clothes.
The outfit must be suitable for everyday life and also showcase themselves as a designer.
Models and Designers were randomly drawn.
No one wanted to work with the model wearing the dreadful wedding dress. Steve was not happy when his name was drawn.
They have 30 minutes to talk to their model.
Steve said the every day look “Was a considerable challenge when you have 10 yards of polyester satin”
They then had $10 for extra fabric and other stuff.
Steven bought black stretch cotton. The trimming was going to come from the wedding dress. Now is this in the spirit of the challenge?
They had 12 hours for get their designs finished.
Then some drama occurred, Jack Mackenroth was ill with a mercer in his lip this was not necessarily related to his HIV, however his doctor wanted to treat it aggressively.
Tim Gunn and Jack went for a private chat and Jack decided to leave the show and go get medical treatment. Very upsetting for him, plus the other designers. (For those who are fans of Jack, he may be back on another Project Runway series as apparently he has auditioned again.)
The work room had a very sombre feel to it after that.
Then there was the surprise, Chris March who was eliminated last week was back - I must say I was not unhappy to have that happen.
Chris was having to take over from Jack, with only 6 hours left, so he was given the option of working through the night.
Tim Gunn had to be stern with Chris and told him not to go costumey when he started talking about his sailor design.
Tim also told him to make all the decisions now as he had made a lot of bad decisions at 3.00am.
Steve piped up “Names we want names”.
Tim Gunn then said “I might come and visit you [Chris] at 4.00am, after I have made my 3.00am poor decision.”
At least Project Runway has real wit. Kyle Sandilands could do with some lessons in that particular topic.
The next morning arrived and there was Chris passed out on the couch. And then the usual pre-show mayhem commenced.
Steve was having difficulty finishing his outfit.
Jillian didn’t use the materials that she was given, personally I thought this was wrong as it did not encompass the spirit of the challenge.
Ricky unsurprisingly cried again over as he was so happy about the outfit and what effect his work has on people.
Kevin decided to help Steven to finish his outfit. He was so desperate he had to break out glue to get it finished apparently a big high fashion faux par.
Steven’s outfit made his model look like a maid working in an apartment on Fifth Avenue. It was dour.
The judges tonight were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and Patrick Robinson head designer of the Gap. Of course the inscutable Heidi as well.
Sweet P’s was a cute halter dress.
Jillian had made another halter dress. I did not think it fitted that well. But I was in the minority on that one.
Ricky’s jeans and shirt really suited his model but it was nothing earth shattering.
Chris with his sailor inspired skirt was ok - I liked the skirt but the top did not match it. In fact turn it into a mini and it would be something Amy Winehouse would wear.
Christian’s was very good and funky.
Kevin’s pants and top was really fab as well - very modern.
The it was judgement time
Six left were standing the top and bottom three. These were Chris, Jillian, Elisa, Kevin, Christian and Steve.
Kevin skirt and legging outfit drew praise from the judges. Nina said “great make over“. Michael said “You have to be careful with the leggings, everyone has them, so missed out on ingenuity.”
Elisa layered outfit attracted criticsim. Heidi said “It did not look like the model.“ Nina agreed “It is all very Elisa but not Tracey.” And with the black knee high boots she was wearing with the outfit it was particularly unflattering.
Jillian did not attract too much criticism for not using the material/clothes she was given, as the judges did like the dress. Personally I think this was unfair to the other designers who had adhered to the challenges philosophy.
Steve attracted criticism for his design. Nina said “It looks like [you took the dress] from a wedding to a funeral. Michael said “You had something interesting to work with - you had beading. Steven did not agree.
Christian’s drew praise as it was contemporary and “Looked like it fitted her personality.”
Chris’s outfit again drew criticism with Michale Kors saying “It is a little Shirley McLaine when she played a hooker with a heart of gold.”
The winner of the challenge Christian. Kevin was a bit miffed. It means Christian cannot be eliminated in the next challenge.
Final two were Elisa and Steve.
Elisa was again told the look more about you then client.
Steve was told he turned a joyful wedding dress into something a French maid would wear. It was cliché and boring.
Unsurprisingly Steve was eliminated.
I am going to miss Steve’s sardonic sense of humour. Maybe Ricky can get sick next week and we can get him back.

Elisa was again told the look more about you then client.
Steve was told he turned a joyful wedding dress into something a French maid would wear. It was cliché and boring.
Unsurprisingly Steve was eliminated.
I am going to miss Steve’s sardonic sense of humour. Maybe Ricky can get sick next week and we can get him back.

Project Runway Season 4 - Episode 4
"Project runway should have its own perfume," said costume designer and Project Runway contestant Chris.
"A mixture of tears, sweat and chinese food" chimed in another of the male designers. It made me wonder just unhealthy it was to be on this reality tv show. You never see them eat or take breaks on this show.
And then it was off to meet German supermodel Heidi Klum. If she hadn't been a model or host of this show she would have made a great dominatrix. That stern glint in her eye has everyone cowering.
I don't think Kristy Hinze will be portraying the same demeanour in the upcoming Australian series.
After the usual model swapping that last week's winner Jack is allowed to indulge, in Heidi sent them off to the Parson Design Centre to get their next challenge.
Nina Garcia and Tim Gunn, who hopefully will be out for the Logies, were there with 12 photographs of hideous fashion trends from the past 20 or so years. Some I remembered and may have even worn.
Then each of the designers had to pick a photo of the outdated trends, pleather, neon, cutouts were just a few examples of the fashion hiccups.
Jack was first to pick as he won last weeks challenge, then it is random.
The challenge:
Working in teams of three, to make three looks that were cohesive and current. They were able to pick who they wanted to work with.
Each team has a budget of $225 and 2 days to complete the challenge. 1 hour to sketch before going shopping.
Also each group had to pick a team leader, now why you would want to be team leader is beyond me you knew that if you were in the bottom teams your head was on the chopping block, and if you won what did you get - no trip for two to some swanky Mexican resort - you get nothing.
You knew in some teams were going to get ugly, as those shoulder pads.
However Steve from Chicago provided some light comic relief with his eeriely accurate impersonation of Tim Gunn.
Victorya is having a meltdown about Ricky being team leader and not her, so starts trying to take over and being subversive, and Ricky doesn't have the balls to rein her in.
Jillian bitching about Kevin to Rami concern over him not finishing. Especially as he appears to be getting close to the deadline without finishing his shorts. It appears he kind of disappeared somewhere. Where to, who knows?
In the end Kevin finally got this fabulous high waisted shorts together.
Tim Gunn swans in 2 hours from the end of deadline to cast his eye and critique it.
As they are nearly finished I am not sure how the advice it "needs to be cohesive" is going to help, as you cannot change you design at this stage of the competition.
The next day they have a few hours to finish up and get the model ready for the Runway.
Judges were the ususal Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and special guest judge was the amazing Donna Karen.
Team Jillian were out first their fashion trends were overalls, poodle skirt, and 70's flare. Personally I don't think overalls and 70's flares were fashion disasters.
The collection was fabulous with the cohesive look bound together by the fabric denim. It was funky and fun. I think her experience working for Ralph Lauren has helped Jillian alot, especially in how to put a collection together.
Team Chris collection was shoulder pads, dancewear, and baggy sweaters. I think they had the hardest trends to deal with. Leotard with shoulder pads? I don't think so. Therefore it was not that cohesive, and the beige colour reminded me of the season where everything in the shops was oatmeal. Hopefully that trend won't make a come back. However Sweet P's take on the baggy sweater was excellant, she has been been pretty consistent so far, except for her disaster man's outfit last week. But that was technique rather then design.
Team Christian collection was based on zoot suit, pleather, and fringe. Very cohesive both in fabric and design, but the fabric all together was a bit bland. But the cuts were fabulous.
Team Ricky had neon, cut-outs, and underwear as outerwear. This was the worst collection. I thought both Elisa's and Ricky's looked badly made. In fact Elisa's looked wrinkled. He said the reason why his dress wasn't finished was because he was helping the others.
The clear winner was Team Jillian, and Christian's team score also qualified them to move onto the next challenge.
The judges said team Chris missed with cohesive design and they did not like stephen's dance wear look, but they loved Sweet P's dress. Chris's dress was described as "beauty pagent with camel" by Michael kors. The shoulder pads got a big criticism.
Team Ricky was told by Nina she "liked Victorya's dress". Victorya did admit that Ricky helped her.
They did not like Ricky's dress. Then Victorya put the boot into Ricky about his leadership skills.
The contestants were then put on the spot and asked who they think should go. Elisa with were kookiness neatly sidestepped any cold shoulders she may receive back at the apartment by nominating herself.
Heidi cracked the whip at Sweet P because she was being indecisive about who to pick. Fear of Heidi won out over fear of the team and she nominated Stephen.
Chris was then eliminated.
I thought this was a bit harsh as Ricky has been flailing about in the bottom for weeks and their designs were fairly disgusting plus he wasn't the greatest leader.
So a contestant who has some of the best one liners is gone, and Ricky who continually cries is left in. Unbelievable.
I will miss his one liners.

Project Runway Episode 3
The episode opened with us finding out Christian was not Mr Popularity in the male residence, with one of the boys saying "If they had gotten rid of Christian[last episode] there would have been no one who would have cried."
At least Christian makes good TV.
The challenge for this episode was to make an outfit for Tiki Barber a former gridiron player and current personality on the Today show.
The design was to fit his weird body of thick neck, fat butt, and small waist. Also it had to be something he could wear on TV.
Budget was $150, they had 30 mins to design it, and 30 mins in Mood Design Material shop, and a day and a half to make it.
This was particularly difficult as most of the designers do not do menswear.
Jack took off his shorts and undid them to make a pattern which was not against the rules, but did elicit some bitching from the others.
Day 2 they had 15 hours to complete, and midway through there was a morale booster for all of the women and most of the guys when the male models were brought in for fittings. There was a lot of ogling as they were disrobing.
Steven suddenly got how straight guys felt in a room full of female models - he previously had been bewildered by there enthusiasm.
Elisa who is apparently quite shy turned her back and said the only man she had intimately fitted was her boyfriend.
Seven hours to go and another distraction was brought in Ginny Barber - Tiki's wife to assess the early look of the designs. She liked most of them but was a bit dubious about Carmen's, thought it may be a bit to casual for TV.
Everyone was having trouble finishing and Kevin decided not to go with a jacket but a waistcoat. Jack gave up on a third piece and just stuck with pants and a shirt. Ricky was trying to do to much and with 50 mins to go said "I am fucked".
By 1.00am no one had finished.
In the morning Sweet P said her shirt was a disaster. Chris reassured her with "Honey there are way worse things going on then that." - that was quote of the episode.
Carmen didn't have a shirt so had to drape the material over the models shoulder before putting the jacket on.
Tim Gunn just about needed a cattle prod and a very stern voice saying it is time to go to the runway to get the designers out of the room.
The judges were Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, Tiki Barber, and of course Heidi Klum.
Christian thought his design was the most interesting., whilst Ricky and Carmen's were a disaster.
Six designers were left on the runway, three with the highest score, and three with the lowest score.
Kate pants, shirt and fleece jacket got positive reviews. Tiki said "I like it - it is conservative like me."
Sweet P whose had designed pants, shirt (neck was all over the shop ), and tie was told by Michael Kors the tie was well made if the "guy was 5 foot 3." Tiki called the look "Messy conservative."
Jack two piece conservative pin stripes shirt and pants was given the thumbs up by Tiki. He said "Simple, textures I love." Nina did comment that there were only two pieces, but the consensus was they were very well made.
Ricky had three piece suit that even Lowes wouldn't stock. "Sloppy" said Tiki, and "Why these colours" questioned Nina, "boring".
Kev pants shirt and vest in purple made Heidi say "More David Beckham, then Tiki". However Tiki said "I like the vest".
Carmen got a dressing down by the judges. Michael Kors who said her unfinished outfit was unacceptable. Tiki said "The short jacket would have everyone looking at my butt." Heidi did not see this as a negative thing.
The winner was Jack which meant Tiki would wear the outfit on the Today show.
Sweet P was safe as her outfit was the lesser of the three disasters, and Carmen was eliminated. Ricky was very lucky he is clearly out of his depth.

Tonight the challenge was to design for a fashion and pop icon. Speculation mounted was it Madonna, Britany 'she needs some help', or Snow White. Now that would be interesting you can just see Heidi Klum saying "bring an old fashioned fairy tale into the 21st century without changing the essence of her character".
Speaking of Heidi does she have the best job in the world? Turn up at the beginning to announce what the challenge is, and then turn up at the runway show at the end. Tim Gunn is the one who has to try and remain immaculate until the end of the evening to shut up the institute, plus pop in a few times in the day to announce the surprises or critique the early prototypes on the designs.
Anyway the fashion icon was Sarah Jessica Parker, which completely overwhelmed Chris March because "that is why I moved to New York because of Sex in The City". Wasn't Sex about four girls looking for love and looking fabulous? Anyway he must have connected with it.
The challenge was to create a two piece look for her label Bitten. However it had to be affordable, and retail for $40. Which meant they could only spend $15 on material. Clearly no labor costs were taken into account in the final costing, unless they use some seriously illegal sweat shops to manufacture Bitten clothes.
They had 30 minutes to develop the design then present it to SJP, who would then pick seven of the designers to make it. Those seven would then have to pick one other contestant to assist them.
The pairings ended up being:
Lisa and Sweet P
Kit and Chris
Victorya and Kevin
Marion and Steven
Ricky and Jack
Christian and Carmen
Rami and Gillian.
At this point I thought are they going to eliminate two people, or was it going to be a blessing not being picked by SJP as you cannot really cull the helper.

Sweet P freaked out being picked to be Elisa' partner, no reassurance was provided to Sweet P when Elisa started spitting on the fabric to mark it out. She must be able to spit through the eye of needle to get it accurate.
Also apparently Elisa does not know how to use a sewing machine. So if she wins are the labor costs of handsewing the garment taken into account?
Marion was having difficulty finishing his. His partner Steven was extremely dubious about the whole concept. Steve is into classic looks, whereas this was pretty shaggy or as Michael Kors described it Poquahontas look was always going to be trouble.
Ricky just kept crying.
Tim Gunn warned Christian that it looked a bit too retro, Christian with the arrogance of youth dismissed his advice.
It was judgement time - the judges Michael Kors, Nina Garcia (will she be on next season since she has been fired from Elle magazine?), Sarah-Jessica, and the inscrutable Heidi.
Some of the teams had difficulty with the concept of designing an outfit for a wide range of sizes.
Four teams were left standing the two highest scores and the two lowest scores.
Victorya and Kevin - Her design was an above the knee black dress with a snazzy waist coat over the top. SJP said "I think you did a really good job" and Nina said "Charming a lot of people can wear it."
Marion and Steven - this outfit was a train wreck, Kate Moss couldn't make it look good. Nina said "Proportions very awkward" and Heidi said "I don't get it - looks like a rag."
Lisa and Sweet P this was my favourite, a blue dress with a cape draped over it. It was stunning she may be kooky but wow. SJP said "Sexy" It just looked money.
Christian was an aqua blue dress with a black/grey patterned jacket over the top. Michael Kors said "Design of jacket to ambitious" "too retro and won't fit a lot of people".
At this point Christian went on the offensive and said "I just want to hear what SJP has to say." (pout).
Well he got no positive reinforcement there. She said "Stronger colour - more severe in person then paper".
Victorya won the challenge and her design would be in the fall collection of Bittan.
Then the two lowest scorers were there. The judges asking each of the them which of their pairing should go home. The helpers quite rightly said the team leaders, which the judges agreed with. After Christian was told he needed to be more accessible Marian was swiftly eliminated.
